The only word that can be used to describe the abbey is breathtaking! No where else will you see anything quite like it. The abbey was originally a palace with all the trimmings: exquisitely painted ceilings, lavishly decorated rooms, and an elaborate library known both for the housing and production of an exhaustive collection of manuscripts. The abbey is in pristine condition. It is featured in books by such internationally best-selling authors as Umberto Eco (The Name of the Rose) and Steve Berry (The Amber Room). We will be visiting the Abbey on a personally guided tour with Steve during our September Cruise!
Now, if you are frantically searching through your personal copy of
The Amber Room, looking for mention of the abbey, you will find that it is perfectly described, but it is not in its actual location. Why? That is for Steve to tell you! Steve loves the Abbey and he will be sharing many fun and interesting facts regarding his inspiration and use of it in his book.
If you haven't already signed up for the cruise, there is still time. We would love for you to join us, meet new friends, and tour Europe with Steve Berry this fall!
Next time, we'll take a look at Vienna!
